Did you know that all children under 16 years old and those in full time education under 19 years old are entitled to a FREE sight test under the NHS? If your child is starting school full time this September ie four or five or going up to secondary school this year we would recommend a sight test so that you have a benchmark of your child's vision. Why? For the younger child it can rule out any visual problems should they be slow readers, for the older child the move to secondary school will mean more white board work so they need to see clearly at distance. The long summer break is an ideal time to organise a sight test. Young adults thinking of learning to drive a car or motorbike should also be tested, it is amazing how many young adults only discover they have below par sight when they start to learn to drive!
So what is the cost of a pair of spectacles for children and young adults in full time education? There is an NHS voucher for children which we ensure will covers a basic, attractive pair of spectacles e.e FREE SPECTACLES FOR KIDS.We have to cater for all tastes so there are some spectacles that attract a £10 to £30 supplement and than there are designer spectacles it's your choice.
